NOW AVAILABLE: VIGIAVESPA platform, the active surveillance network under the Vespa velutina Surveillance and Control Plan in Portugal

This new tool developed by INIAV under the ATLANTIC POSITIVE projet will allow:

- to map the invasion and patterns of territorial evolution with the aim of: diminishing the impact caused in areas where it is already installed
- to contribute to eradicate new outbreaks in non-occupied areas
- to evaluate the impact of the Asian wasp on ecosystems and on pollination services;
- to disseminate the problems associated with the introduction of the species in Portugal.

This initiative will enable information on the dispersion of the Asian wasp to be collected throughout the Portuguese intervention area and made available to the whole of society.

The tool was developed together with the Portuguese Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF)
